Postnatal Care

Postnatal Care

After baby is born and you return home we provide expert and high quality midwife care based on your needs for up to a month after the birth.

We believe that this precious and important time as a new family deserves the most attentive support and care possible from one or at most, two midwives so that we can know you and your baby’s needs and provide consistent, familiar postnatal care tailored to you and your baby’s needs.

Postnatal CareIn our experience, women, understandably, tend to focus on the birth and may not always fully realise how much they will value lots of postnatal care from one or two familiar midwives.

After birth, women undergo many physical and emotional changes as their body adjusts to a non-pregnant state. They may recovering from an instrumental delivery or a caesarean or from a perfectly normal birth but all have a greater impact on life as a parent than many people realise beforehand.

Many of our first-time parents had thought they would only need a couple of postnatal visits from us but all of them have been very glad that we offer up to ten postnatal visits, up to a month after the birth. It is not only the physical checks on both mother and baby that are of value but also the calm and expert emotional support that had helped them cope with the effects of sleepless nights, crying baby episodes and changes to relationship dynamics let alone grappling with bathing, dressing and breastfeeding a new baby. We also give plenty of support should you choose to bottle feed.

We have lots of breastfeeding experience but should there be feeding problems beyond our expertise, we have close links with a very nice Lactation Consultant and can make an appointment for her to visit you at home.
